About me
I am a freelance EFL content writer and presenter with over 30 years’ experience as a teacher, writer, song writer, online course creator, teacher trainer and editor.
I am a musician and play violin, piano, guitar, bass guitar and accordion, and perform regularly with Barcelona-based bands Los Stompers and The Macksons. In 2020 I formed DJ English with Julian Jahanpour.
I began teaching English in Barcelona in 1990, working for Inlingua and later The British Council, also teaching music at Saint Peter’s School.
While teaching, I began writing songs and materials for a variety of publishers including Macmillan Heinemann, Oxford University Press, Richmond Publishing, Edebé and Gyldenhal, as well as The British Council.
I spent 19 years at Macmillan Education, beginning in 2004 as a teacher trainer. In 2010 I helped set up Macmillan Training Services where I co-designed a set of online courses which won the Asociación de Proveedores de e-Learning (ApeL) prize for innovation in onlne training courses (2015) and The Macmillan Early Learning Path project which was short-listed for the British Council ELTon awards (2016). I later worked as an editor and educational consultant and gained my KiVa (anti-bullying) trainer certificate from the University of Turku in 2017.
